The finca

One finca, two altitudes and a river.

Finca Hostal Bolívar covers a Minca hillside: the main house and the viewpoint above, the yellow house and the river below. Between them, a steep path, mango trees and bamboo. This is what happens in each corner — dated when it’s a memory, and “ask” when it depends on the day.

The great simple luxury

Private access to the river.

The Gaira river — locally the Minca river — runs past the lower grounds, cold from the Sierra Nevada. The finca has its own access: pools between big boulders, shade, a yoga platform by the water and the choza with its fire on the bank.

The river rises fast after heavy rain upstream, even when it’s dry where you are. On 25 October 2026 IDEAM warned of flash floods on the Gaira and named Minca. Ask before swimming; cold water, slippery rocks, no lifeguard.

At the very top

The viewpoint, at golden hour.

“Our private viewpoint opens up the horizon,” the finca wrote in 2022. It’s a rock at the top of the grounds, about 10 minutes’ walk from the lower house per the finca, with the Sierra’s ridges in front and the coast far off. Bring something to drink, come early and walk down with a torch.

Mornings

Bread and jam from the house.

In June 2023 the finca announced its breakfast with home-made bread and jam, included in the price. Today the listings mark it as not included, and Booking.com offers it separately at Casa Quinta. So: ask whether there’s breakfast on your dates and what it costs. The shared kitchens in each house, on the other hand, are always there.

Jungle days, nights of conversation.

Moments the finca shared on Instagram. They are dated memories, not a schedule: there’s no party every night.

Roots

Passion fruit, mango and a Colombian–Swiss team.

The houses are named after fruit trees, and older descriptions of the finca mention mango, passion fruit and citrus; a 2026 guest remembers “the mango tree in the garden”. Ask which fruit is in season. On Airbnb the finca presents itself as a Colombian–Swiss team that speaks Spanish, English and German.

Caring for the place

Small things, done well.

No green speeches: this is what the finca has done and shared, with dates.

  1. A guest fills a reusable bottle at the filtered-water dispenser, beside a yellow wall and a timber walkway.
