The house

On the Gaira river

Casa Maracuyá is the yellow house on the lower grounds, on stilts with a bamboo roof over the upper terrace. The finca describes it as “located directly on the Rio Gaira”, and you can tell: from the timber deck you hear the water, and the private river access is a few steps away. Inside, two doubles with balconies, a six-bed room, a well-equipped kitchen and porches with hammocks.

The river

Cold water, big boulders

The river coming down from the Sierra runs past the house: pools between boulders, the shade of tall trees and a riverside yoga spot the finca mentions in its listings. It’s this place’s great simple luxury.

After heavy rain upstream the Gaira rises fast: ask before swimming.

The deck

A timber deck among the trees

Hammocks, a round table and the forest all around: the deck is the house’s living room. People read, talk, stare into the green and listen to the river.

The kitchen

The heart of the house

A shared kitchen with fridge, stove, oven, juicer, espresso maker, kettle and toaster, per the finca; green windows, a round table and the door open to the hammocks. Guests call it “fully stocked”.

Slow mornings

Yellow porches and hammocks

Yellow porches with a hanging chair, outdoor tables and a noticeboard of local plans: the place for the first coffee and for deciding, unhurried, what to do with the day.

Fire

The fire shed and the choza

A rustic shed with a fireplace and grill among the bamboo and, by the river, the palm-thatched choza where the finca has cooked wood-fired sancocho. Plans for the group, not a restaurant with opening hours.

Questions

Before booking Casa Maracuyá

Getting there

From Minca centre you walk towards Pozo Azul; the finca describes about 300 m to a wooden gate on the left. Confirm the entrance on WhatsApp before you arrive.

There is not always someone at the door: share your approximate arrival time.

Arrival guide
How far is it from the village?

The finca puts it at about 300 m from Minca centre, towards Pozo Azul. Confirm the entrance on WhatsApp.

Is it humid? Mosquitoes?

It’s humid forest by a river: windows have screens and there are fans, but bring repellent and long sleeves for dusk. If you’re sensitive to damp, ask about Casa Quinta too.

Is it safe to swim in the river?

With care: the water is cold, the rocks are slippery and there’s no lifeguard. After heavy rain upstream the Gaira can rise suddenly; in October 2026 IDEAM issued alerts for Minca.

Is there a reception at the house?

The finca’s reception works 8:00–20:00, but there isn’t always someone at the house door: share your approximate arrival time.

Are the two doubles the same?

They share the same description (double bed, private bathroom, balcony). In the listing photos one has a red wall and the other a green one; the exact view depends on the room.

Can I book the whole house?

Yes, up to 10 people: both doubles and the six-bed room, with kitchen and deck for your group only.

Are pets allowed?

No, according to the listings.
